Known as Earth's twin, Venus is similar to our planet in many ways. But while Earth has an average temperature of 57 degrees Fahrenheit, Venus averages a scorching 863 degrees Fahrenheit. What's more, the temperature on Venus remains constant all over the planet, and it's as hot at night as it is during the day.

Why is Venus so Hot?

The answer lies in its thick atmosphere, the densest in our solar system. Thick yellow clouds made up of carbon dioxide blanket the planet. The clouds trap the sun's heat in Venus's atmosphere, so the planet is always hot. Many scientists believe that Venus once had oceans, just like Earth, but they evaporated.
