Removing Urine Stains from Your Kid’s Bamboo Bedding? ~ Kwentology

Special things need special care and maintenance. Therefore, if you are a proud owner of organic/ eco-friendly bedding you must also be careful about maintaining their new-like look and feel. Washing bamboo bedding is fairly simple. There are a few things that you need to be careful about.

Once you understand the do’s and don’ts of cleaning bamboo bedding set, you would realize that cleaning bamboo sheets is routine work that can be carried out like washing of any other fabric. Keeping the following set of instructions in mind, you can easily wash away most of the dirt as well as stains from your sheet. The following are some simple rules of cleaning a bamboo sheet:

Always wash bamboo organic bamboo bedding and comforters in cool or cold water. Do not use hot water to wash bamboo sheets because the high temperature of water can cause the fibers of the sheet to loosen up and break. Secondly, while washing bamboo sheets and comforters you must always add ½ cup baking soda and ½ cup of vinegar in the water in the washing machine. These ingredients act as natural bleaches that retain the sheen of the fiber. Since these bleaches are natural, they do not make the fabric rough. Last but not the least, bamboo sheets should always be dried naturally. In case you have to use a dryer, use it only on ‘low impact’ made.

While bamboo sheets are fairly simple to clean, maintenance of bedding items like quilts and comforters is often left to professional dry-cleaners. As far as everyday care is concerned, comforters and quilts are vacuumed for the purpose of removing any dirt or dust particles on it. But what if there is a urine stain on the bamboo bedding that your child or toddler sleeps on? Do you think giving it to the dry-cleaner every time, is a good idea? Well, if you are looking for a better alternative, try the following steps:
  1. Rinse the bedding nicely with water.
  2. Use mild detergent such as the one that you use for your pet or your baby. Dab some of it on a wet cloth and use this cloth to brush the stain.
  3. When the stain starts to loosen up, blot the stain with an absorbent pad.
  4. Add some fragrance to water and spray on the sheet.
  5. Leave to dry.

The above listed steps will help you get rid of difficult urine stains. However, you must not delay the cleaning for long, otherwise the stain will toughen.
