The remains of 42 members of the Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police that were killed in Mamasapano clash in Maguindanao arrived this Thursday morning at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
However, it's obvious that President Benigno Aquino III wasn't at the airport to lead the ceremony for slain policemen he called the "hero" in his speech last Wednesday.
But former President Fidel Ramos, Vice President Binay, several military and police officers were there to provide elite respects to their slain comrades.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte clarified that Pres. Aquino is not necessarily need to attend the arrival honors.
According to Valte, the President didn't skip the arrival honors today, it presupposes he was originally scheduled to attend it, which was not the case.
Valte said, the president will lead necrological services on Friday morning at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Aquino's activities were already scheduled, this Thursday going to Laguna for the inauguration of the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Plant, and going to the wake of slain policemen this Friday.
Two members of SAF killed in Mamasapano clash were buried in Mindanao following the tradition of the Muslims.
