Emergency Hotline 911 was flooded by curiously dishonest callers the time it was launched for the nationwide servicing, a huge reason for the Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald 'Bato' M. dela Rosa to issue a stern warning against prank callers.
According to the statistics, from 12:01 midnight to 7:00 am yesterday;
- The Emergency Hotline 911 has a total of 2,475 calls recorded.
- Only 75 are valid, with 1119 dropped calls and 304 were prank calls.
However, he also appealing to the people to refrain from making prank calls or test calls on our 911 hotline. These unnecessary calls will clog up the lines and prevent the people with real emergencies to reach immediate services and rescue responders.
Since the emergency hotline was brought to action, most of these calls received were related to emergencies such as ambulance assistance, vehicular accidents, illegal drag racing, drinking alcohol in public, harassment, illegal drug pushing and riots.
Emergency Hotline 911 is the collaboration of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Department of Health (DoH).
