What a tragic fate for 72 workers of Kentex factory who were died in the fire. Most workers are victims trapped and unable to leave the factory in Valenzuela City.
The fire was already extinguished, but many questions need to be answered as to why the fire occurred and why there are so many victims of such tragedy. Plus, not just the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), but also the government of Valenzuela City should face the investigation.
Valenzuela City is one in Metro Manila that has numbers of factories, so there are persistent violations in the National Building Code and Fire and Safety Regulations committed.
And despite the alleged violations of the National Building Code, how come Kentex got their permit to operate? Someone should be accountable for the plight of those who were killed in the fire. Investigation must get in touch to offices of DOLE, BFP, the government of Valenzuela City and Veato Ang, the owner of factory himself.
Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian can't clear his name on this tragedy if there is no real justice and right to these workers who died inside the factory of Kentex.
